New for MUM: Billy Kidd: Magician, Street Performer, Monkey Wrangler

I had the pleasure of meeting Alan Howard when I flew down to Orlando to help produce the Contest of Magic at the Society of American Magicians’ annual convention in July. He was then the brand new Editor in Chief of MUM, the official SAM magazine. A month later we caught up at MAGIC Live in Las Vegas, and while we were chatting magic and characters, Alan brought up Billy Kidd. It’s hard not to gush when conversation turns to Billy; she is a talented, deep thinking, humble magician dedicated to building a body of work that can speak for itself.

From all these serendipitous connections emerged this feature profile, the cover story of MUM’s December 2018 issue. It’s a closer look into what makes Billy Kidd tick, from softening her edges for Disney Cruise Lines to debuting her psychic monkey, Charlie, at the Magic Castle earlier this year. Because MUM is only available to SAM members and subscribers, I can’t share the feature digitally.
