New for i-D/VICE: Yasmeen Mjalli and BabyFist Denim

I was very excited to work with i-D on this interview with Yasmeen Mjalli, the Palestinian-American artist, activist, and entrepreneur behind BabyFist Denim. At 21 years old, Mjalli was surprised to find herself working full-time to create a community where Palestinian women and Arab women around the world could wrestle with some of the otherwise taboo topics that impact their daily lives. Her work spans BabyFist's apparel line, visual artwork and graphics that feature on the BabyFist blog, and the Typewriter Project, through which Mjalli is collecting women's stories of harassment and abuse on the streets and online. We talked about social entrepreneurship, balancing feminist identity with Arab identity, and the challenges of activism in Occupied Palestine.
