What I've Been Working On: Magic Live in Las Vegas, Nevada

I spent last week on a whirlwind trip through Las Vegas, Nevada. Since I first started planning the trip, there was something about it that I could feel but not explain. It's a familiar sensation—the same gut instinct that sent me to Ibiza and to Sydney. There's still a lot of Vegas that I haven't seen, and I'm already planning to return sooner rather than later. With that said, I did manage to do some damage.

The main reason for the trip was to attend Magic LIVE!, one of the world's biggest magic conventions boasting about 1,600 magicians in attendance. I wasn't working this time around, so I was able to soak up all the goodness of the event as just another magician in the room. From the very first day, I was inspired and also overwhelmed. By the end of that Sunday night welcome party, my face hurt from smiling so much.

I wandered through rooms packed with the people I respect most in the world of magic, some whom I never thought I'd get to meet and others whom I never thought would end up beside me in the middle of an off-strip Vegas casino. There were lectures and workshops and shows to see, lots of rushed lunches at TGI Friday's and drooling over goodies in the dealer's room, late nights and early mornings all filled with all things magic.

After four sleepless convention days, I had Thursday and Friday left to squeeze in all those last minute hellos and goodbyes, steal away some time for brainstorming and planning and dreaming, see a few magic shows and explore the Strip. I turned into a pumpkin around midnight on Thursday, so I didn't make it to Fremont Street this time around. Also on my list: trips to the desert, escape rooms, Cirque du Soleil, and a few more magic shows.

Be right back, Las Vegas.
